What inspired you to become an egg donor?

A close family member of mine has recently been going through infertility issues, and it's really struck a chord in my heart. I felt guilty that there are some families out there who are incapable of having the child they desperately want when I can, but personally don't want to. I've always been keen to help others wherever I can, so egg donation felt like the perfect way to give back.

How did you find your donation journey?

The donation process was fantastic! The teams that I was cared for by in Manchester and Liverpool were so kind and helpful, and my health and well-being were put front and centre the entire time. I was informed at every step of the way and I never felt confused or overwhelmed by the process. The actual egg collection was surprisingly quick and easy, and I felt looked after by everyone involved. 

What was the most meaningful part of donating?

The most meaningful part for me is knowing that I've done something for others that is greater than myself. I believe we are put on this Earth to make it a better place than when we leave it, and if I can help create a beautiful and loving family with children who may go on to do amazing things, I'm all for it. 

Did you feel you got the care you needed throughout your journey?

Yes! Everyone was so friendly and only a quick message away. Because my work schedule can be quite rigid, I'm really grateful to the team at Manchester for being so accommodating and finding appointments for me that fit around my workplace.  

What would you say to someone thinking about donating?

I would say go for it! You'll be doing something amazing that could bring lifelong joy to a family out there. What could feel better than that?
